Chaim starts out by talking about how it’s been a season of miracles in Israel, with this latest miraculous rescue of another Israeli hostage being the latest. He quotes David Ben Gurion, the founding father of modern Israel, who said “In Israel, in order to be a realist, you must believe in miracles.”
He recounts some of the other miracles that have accompanied Israel’s military victories over the past 75 years, going back to the 1948 Independence War and even before that. God’s Hand is evident in all of these events, moving in the earth to bring His plans and purposes for Israel and the Jewish People to fruition.
In this context he quotes Zechariah 12:8; In that day the Lord will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; the one who is feeble among them in that day shall be like David, and the house of David shall be like God, like the Angel of the Lord before them.
Chaim says that there is a war raging already and a much bigger war with Iran, Hezbollah and all the other terrorist groups that Iran sponsors could break out at any moment. But we’re not afraid.
In this context he quotes Psalms 121:4; Behold, He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
All Israelis know this on some level, and we all believe in miracles because this country is the impossible made possible.
