Chaim starts by saying he’s in Rafah, in southern Gaza, and he’s with another soldier who speaks English because he’s a dual citizen of Israel and another English speaking country. Chaim asks him why he’s here fighting in the IDF, since he has the option of using his passport from this other country to avoid it.
The soldier replied that it was perfectly natural for him to stay and defend the country he was born in and grew up in instead of running away from the responsibility just because he had some papers that would allow him to do so.
Chaim tells him about his work at the Aliyah Return Center, and asks him if he knows anyone who immigrated to Israel and if they had a difficult time adapting to the circumstances here. The soldier replies that in Israel we “live in a different frequency” and it can be very hard to explain to someone who isn’t here experiencing it firsthand. Someone who moves here has to adapt or they might not stay very long.
Chaim then mentions the equipment donated by ARC supporters around the world which allowed soldiers like him to do their job more safely.
The scene then shifts to an excerpt from an IDF video explaining the reasons for the war against Hezbollah in Lebanon.
