Chaim starts the video by asking his viewers to join him in paying respects to several IDF soldiers who have fallen in battle recently. He also wants to take a moment to remember that it was 51 years ago, on Yom Kippur, that the combined attack came from the Egyptian army in the south and the Syrian army on the Golan Heights.
Several other Arab countries sent small numbers of troops and other kinds of support and troops also came to join in the attack from Cuba and North Korea. But somehow, Israel recovered from the shock of the initial attack, the IDF mobilized and they were able to push the attack back and regain the initiative.
Today, Israel is once again under attack on several fronts following the shock of October 7th, 2023.
The IDF is fighting back and has had some impressive victories, but it is not the IDF which will save Israel in this battle.
Chaim says that his whole life he can remember Yom Kippur being a time when everyone went to the synagogue to pray, even secular people. This year it might be different because there will be many who need to be engaged in activities to support the war effort, but many will be praying, and it’s needed this year as never before.
Chaim lists some of the traditional liturgical prayers and practices on Yom Kippur, and he says that it’s a good time for even secular people to remember that Israel is only here because of the God described in the Torah. So he concludes by thanking his viewers for standing together with Israel in prayer, under the protection and guidance of God.
