This is reminiscent of the way gold and silver and precious stones were given to the priesthood in Biblical times for use in crafting the tools for worship in the Tabernacle, even including the Ark of the Covenant.
In the time of Cyrus, this process was repeated, when gold and silver ornaments were given to the Jews returning to Jerusalem so they could rebuild their holy vessels.
In this season of history, the Aliyah Return Center is turning donated gold into rings that are given to Holocaust survivors so that they can feel that a small measure of justice has been done for all that was stolen from them when they were young.
