(Day 566) Swords of Iron – “Remember and Arise”

Chaim starts by talking about how it’s Holocaust Memorial Day in Israel, when the siren sounds and everything and everyone stops to honor the 6 million victims of the Holocaust. But all over the world, we’re seeing the growth of that same anti-Semitism which motivated the Holocaust. It’s still surging, even in democratically governed countries.

But there is also a bizzare phenomenon of people disagreeing on the need to confront Iran’s nuclear weapons program. The Ayatollah regime which rules Iran is taking the possability of military strikes on their nuclear sites seriously, and the IAEA has been denied acces to some of them, raising fears that Iran is rushing for the Bomb.

Meanwhile, Jordan has stepped up and banned the Muslim Brotherhood, of which Hamas is a franchise. Jordan has decided that it won’t put up with their plots to overthrow the government anymore.

Speaking of rising up, Chaim reminds his viewers that Holocaust Remembrance Day in Israel coincides with the anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising, which was the largest act of armed resistance to the Holocaust by Jews during WWII. It lasted for almost a month and the Nazis lost hundreds of soldiers, but in the end, 13,000 Jewish people were killed and around 50,000 others were sent to the extermination camps.

Chaim says that there’s only a few Holocaust survivors left and most of them are in their 80s. There isn’t much time left to honor them and the Aliyah Return Center is doing its part by giving them an opportunity to tell their stories and then giving them rings to commemorate the event, emblazoned with a verse from the Book of Ruth.

Next Chaim mentions the large forest fires that are ragin in Israel amidst the summer heat and following the driest winter in Israel in over 100 years.

In this context, he concludes by quoting Psalms 60:12; Through God we will do valiantly,

For it is He who shall tread down our enemies.
