(Day 602) Swords of Iron – “Never Underestimate Your Enemy”

Chaim starts by saying that on October 7th, 2023, Hamas was able to surprise Israel with a combination of weapons and tactics that the IDF was not expecting. One of the reasons the Gaza border area was so lightly guarded by the IDF is that all the attention was focused on the northern border, where Hezbollah was assessed to be a much bigger and more dangerous threat.

Chaim says he wants to make sure this doesn’t happen to Israel again. He shows the viewers the insides of some of the vehicles that Hamas used in the attack which were modified in some really surprising ways with improvised explosive devices to inflict maximum damage.

Chaim gives a long list of weapons and equipment they used, some of it very complicated but much of it improvised out of everyday items and even innocent toys like kites and balloons. The point of all this is that Chaim says we should never underestimate our enemies. Hamas uses whatever they can to inflict damage on Israel and they don’t play by the rules. They use civilian infrastructure, tunnels, human shields and cyberwarfare. Chaim says they’re also very adept at using psychological warfare tactics. 

With all of this in mind, Chaim says we cannot give Iran the opportunity to rearm, reequip and reorganize Hamas. We can’t have this terrorist group operating on our borders.

In this context, Chaim quotes II Samuel 7:10; “Moreover I will appoint a place for My people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own and move no more; nor shall the sons of wickedness oppress them anymore, as previously”
