(Day 694) Swords of Iron – “Getting to the root of this”
Chaim starts out by saying that there’s no place like home, and the hostages MUST be returned home. He adds that Israel rejoices even when a deceased hostage comes home to receive an honorable burial. He is of course, talking about Illan Weiss, who was 55 years old when he was kidnapped into Gaza on October 7th, 2023. He died in captivity and his remains have now been recovered. The remains of another individual have also been recovered and are now being examined to determine whose they were.
He says that even some of our friends don’t realize the importance of returning hostages to the whole people of Israel. It’s not an option to leave them in limbo.
He also talks about the shooting attack at a Catholic school in Minneapolis, Minnesota last week. The shooter was obviouly obsessed with Israel and Jews, writing anti-Semitic slogans on the rifle he used to carry out the shooting and in his apartment and elsewhere.
Chaim says this is a cautionary tale for all of us to be careful not to let the brainwashing that is so common on the internet and elsewhere affect us.
Chaim also speaks about the decision by the Al-Jolani regime in Syria to decline an opportunity to join the Abraham Accords at this time. He also speaks about the announcement by Canada’s leadership that they will confront anti-Semitism in their country and also that they’re reconsidering a commitment ot recognize a Palestinian State. They are now saying that before such recognition, there must be guarantees that Hamas will not be part of the government of any such state.
However, there is also some bad news as Turkey is cutting economic ties to Israel and some Israeli officials are trying to call Turkish President Erdogan out for his neo-imperialist ambitions, which are not much different than the desire for a worldwide caliphate expressed by ISIS and Al-Qaeda.
Chaim concludes by saying that all this makes him even more confident in declaring that now is the time to stand strong for full and complete victory and in this context, he quotes I Samuel 12:22: For the Lord will not forsake His people, for His great name’s sake, because it has pleased the Lord to make you His people.
