(Day 727) Swords of Iron – “Yom Kippur”
Chaim starts by saying that it’s Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, and there is some heaviness in the air as the fate of Israel’s hostages hangs in the balance.
It’s also a heavy time spiritually, as we come before the Lord and repent. He says that the heart of the conflict is that God made a decision that this Land belongs to the Jewish People and the entire Human Race is either ready to be obedient to that decision or they’re not. Those who are not ready to be obedient to this decision yet are causing all kinds of problems for themselves and everyone else, and most of them don’t even realize that they’re the ones causing all these problems.
On Yom Kippur, we acknowledge the authority of God to make these decisions and we repent of our failure to recognize His authority and act accordingly.
Chaim says that on this Yom Kippur, he wants to cry out to God for the hostages to be rescued and for the soldiers to be strengthened and comforted and for all of Israeli society to be blessed and comforted in their mourning as the anniversery of October 7th draws near.
He’s also crying out for all Jewish people to look inside and examine their own words and actions, whether they’re producing something positive of negative in this world, and he also asks God to protect Jewish people from all the attacks being directed against them, both online and in the real world.
However, he also asks that people not have bitterness or hatred towards each other, although victory over Hamas is necessary, but between brethren there should be peace, understanding, mercy, love and compassion. He also asks for his viewers to join him in praying for peace over Jerusalem, healing for the trauma that Israelis have suffered in the past two years (and beyond) and for God’s plans for Gaza, which are spelled out in the Bible, to come to pass.
In this context, he quotes Leviticus 16:30; For on that day the priest shall make atonement for you, to cleanse you, that you may be clean from all your sins before the Lord.
He wraps it all up by saying that he is praying that this Yom Kippur be a turning point for Israel and that it all start to go the right way for us from now on.
