(Day 740) Swords of Iron – “Fragile Ceasefire”
Chaim starts by saying that things are not “all roses” as the security situation in Gaza is rapidly deteriorating and there are also problems on other fronts. But in Gaza, Hamas has been rounding up its opponents and brutally executing them in public. There are videos of this all over the internet and even the US military is warning Hamas to knock it off.
But Hamas has NOT held up their end of the ceasefire agreement and they are trying to consolidate their power in the Gaza Strip by eliminating all their competition. Chaim says this must be closely monitored.
At the same time, the long-time leader of the Houthis in Yemen has been confirmed as eliminated. Although he was replaced, Israel has demonstrated that it can reach the senior leadership of this terrorist organization, which might have a deterrent effect on them going forward. Also, we haven’t had any ballistic missiles or drones fired at Israel by the Houthis for a few weeks now.
Chaim says it all means Israel still has a job to do, and he concludes by quoting Jeremiah 1:9-10; “Then the Lord put forth His hand and touched my mouth, and the Lord said to me:
“Behold, I have put My words in your mouth. See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out and to pull down, to destroy and to throw down, to build and to plant.”
