(Day 668) Swords of Iron – “This Must Only End One Way”
Chaim starts by saying that there’s only one way this war can end, and that’s with Israel achieving a total and complete victory.
He then says that the circumstances that will set up this scenario are very close to being realized, as Israel and the US are close to giving Hamas a final ultimatum that they must either release the hostages, agree to disarm and give up power in the Gaza Strip, or be destroyed.
Chaim also mentions the mixed messages about the situation coming from world leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron, who said that he’s ready to recognize a Palestinian State but he’s also demanding that Hamas disarm and not be part of the governance in a new Palestinian State.
With that in mind, Chaim mentions that the Ninth of Av just passed, and 20 years ago on Tisha B’Av, the evacuation from the Gush Katif bloc of Israeli communities in Gaza happened, including the forcible removal of many people who did not want to leave.
This was done in order to give the Palestinians a territory of their own, without Jewish people living in it, as they demanded. But instead of building something positive for themselves, they built a terror statelet whose only purpose was to attack Israel and take hostages, murder, rape, torture, etc.
In this context, Chaim cites a passage of “The Jewish War” which was an ancient history book written by a Jewish historian named Josephus Flavius. It contained a passage, which Chaim refers to, that described the destruction of the Second Temple by Roman soldiers under Titus. The passage describes a scene of horrific slaughter that Titus actually tried to restrain, but the soldiers were so filled with demonically inspired rage and hatred for the Jews that they continued with their rampage of death and destruction until, according to the ancient sources, over 1 million Jewish people were killed. This is an extraordinary number even today, but in ancient times, when the population of this planet was a small fraction of what it is today, it was a catastrophic situation.
Getting back to the present day, Israel is once again in a very bad situation but Chaim says he has faith that Israel will have the victory and in this context, he concludes by quoting Zechariah 4:6 “So he answered and said to me: “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the Lord of hosts.”
