(Day 670) Swords of Iron – “Hate and Intimidation”
Chaim starts by saying that he knows this war will be over someday and there have been many heroes who fought in this war, spending months away from their families, their jobs, their communities and their lives. He wonders if their sacrifice will be honored or if they will be attacked for it, like several IDF veterans have already been. He also laments some of the other hateful and anti-Semitic antics that have accompanied many of the anti-Israel protests around the world, in addition to a massive increase in anti-Semitic attacks worldwide.
Now, there is yet another flotilla meant to “break the blockade of Gaza” on its way, but this one carries the great-granddaughter of a Nazi scientist who developed the Zyklon-B gas that was used to exterminate Jewish people in the death camps during WWII.
Chaim also mentions the admission by the UN that 88% of the trucks with humanitarian aid that are sent into the Gaza Strip are looted, but no one seems to be making the connection between that and Hamas’ continued ability to keep itself going.
On the other hand, maybe some people WANT Hamas to be able to keep stealing all that food, because there are enormous efforts ongoing to delegitimize the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation which has had great success in distributing food to the population of Gaza.
Chaim says that there are a lot of difficulties that Israel is facing right now but he’s convinced that this will end with total and complete victory in the Gaza Strip, just as there was in other theaters of operation. He mentions Hezbollah in Lebanon, which was so feared, but the IDF went in and clobbered them in just a few short weeks and now the internationally recognized government of Lebenon is demanding that they disarm completely and it looks like this time it might actually happen.
He concluded by quoting Zechariah 4:6; So he answered and said to me: “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the Lord of hosts.
