(Day 678) Swords of Iron – “That’s It”
Chaim starts by saying he’s going to start bringing stories about heroes in Israel, people who have stepped up in this very difficult situation and done amazing things. He starts by talking about Yusaf Ziadinai, a Beduin citizen of Israel who saved many lives on October 7th.
Next Chaim talks about the decision by the Toronto International Film Festival to not screen a film about the October 7th attacks because the filmmakers didn’t have permission from Hamas to use the footage they recorded of themselves committing atrocities on that day. Chaim points out that the relevant copyright laws are on the side of the filmmakers, even if this was not a catastrophically absurd position for the TFF to take in its own right.
Chaim says that this is a sad commentary on the state of affairs in the world, especially in the West.
He also says that Hamas timed their attack to take advantage of the terrible disunity in Israel that existed at that time, and their attack was meant to be the decisive blow that destroyed this country. But instead, it is Gaza which has been destroyed, and there are now many Gazan civilians who are trying to flee. Chaim says there are talks ongoing with different countries to try and find a solution to the issue.
Hamas is trying to act reconciliatory now, and Chaim says that it’s time that Israel stopped dancing to their music. Enough is enough and it’s time for them to just be finished off.
More evidence of this came this week when it came to light that some of the truck drivers that are bringing humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip are themselves employees of Hamas.
Meanwhile, there is talk of another round of fighting with Iran, although there is still a conflict with some of Iran’s proxies, including the Houthis in Yemen who continue to fire ballistic missiles at Israel.
As this is going on, there’s a terrible heat wave, water and electricity crisis all happening at the same time in Iran. Chaim says it’s because they’ve been cursing Israel for so long.
Chaim says if they continue to threaten the whole world with nuclear weapons, it will just get worse for them. The E3 powers (UK, France and Germany) are preparing to reinstate crippling sanctions on Iran, and this could lead to their economy falling off a cliff and the people rising up to overthrow this regime.
In this context, Chaim concludes by quoting Deuteronomy 33:27; The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms; He will thrust out the enemy from before you,
And will say, ‘Destroy!’
