(Day 732) Swords of Iron – “October 7th Pondering”
Chaim starts by saying that he’s filming this video on October 7th, 2025, the two year anniversary of the worst terrorist attack in Israel’s history.
Chaim talks about some of his most vivid memories from that day, including the chaotic situation at his IDF base when he finally managed to get there after getting the mobilization order, seeing the bodies and the destroyed vehicles and other evidence of the atrocities.
He says that it felt like the end of the world, and it kept on feeling that way for a long time.
He then starts playing the names of those who are still being held hostage after being kidnapped into Gaza on that horrible day.
Chaim mentions that Hamas wants Israel to release some of the most dangerous and vile terrorists who are currently serving life sentences in Israeli jails in exchange for these hostages. That might be what it takes to end this war, and it will be a bitter pill to have to swallow.
But Israel is very sad, and also very tired, of this reality. We need this war to end, not only because we need our hostages back, but because we need to rest, recuperate and rebuild our country and our society. Chaim says he personally needs these things, although it’s been a great honor to serve in the IDF for two years of this war, and he wishes he could have done more. He thinks about all the victims, especially the children, of that horrible massacre, and he knows it will take a long time for Israeli society to recover.
In this context, he quotes Isaiah 40:1; “Comfort, yes, comfort My people!” Says your God.”
There are many ways people can do that, anc Chaim mentions the efforts the Aliyah Return Center has made to provide soldiers and families with all the things they need.
But in general, Chaim says that Israel WILL recover and bounce back from all the suffering and destruction that we’ve endured in this war. He says we will NOT allow the disunity which preceded this war to cause another calamity.
On that note, Chaim concludes by reminding his viewers that Gaza was promised to the Children of Judah by God, in Joshua chapter 15. Chaim urges his viewers to be bold and stand up for what’s right.
