(Day 744) Swords of Iron – “The yellow line is a red line!”
Chaim starts by saying that he was hoping the peace was real, as were we all, but he can’t say it’s real yet because he doesn’t see the reality of it. There’s still a battle going on, and two IDF soldiers died in that battle this week. Their names, which Chaim mentions, are Major Yaniv Kula and Sgt. Etai Yavetz.
These heroes were working on demolishing a Hamas terror tunnel in Rafah when they were ambushed by some Hamas terrorists who emerged from a tunnel and fired at them. Three of their comrades were also wounded. The IDF responded with air and naval strikes on Hamas targets in Rafah and Khan Yunis, and now things have gone back to a low simmer.
At the same time, Canadian Prime Minister James Carney has raised eyebrows by saying that Canada will honor an ICC warrant to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu if he lands in Canada. Chaim says this is a very bad sign of things to come and people need to be aware.
Meanwhile, the IDF has set up a “Yellow line” in Gaza and declared that it is a “red line” that Hamas needs to respect, to stay on their side of it because the IDF will defend that line and defend our land.
Hamas has sent civilians and fighters to try and probe the weak points in that line, and they haven’t found any yet.
There is also a situation in the north, where Hezbollah is refusing to disarm in Lebanon and the internationally recognized government of Lebanon and the Lebanese National Army don’t feel are saying all the right things but appear to not have the power to take action to back those words up. So Israel might have to unilaterally go back into Lebanon and disarm Hezbollah as well.
Meanwhile, US Envoy Tom Barrack said that Saudi Arabia is very close to being ready to join the Abraham Accords. Iran is on the back foot, but they’re still screaming about death and violence, while the Saudis have said they want something different.
Chaim says that God has good things in store for Israel, and in this context he quotes Jeremiah 31:13; “Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, and the young men and the old, together; For I will turn their mourning to joy, will comfort them, and make them rejoice rather than sorrow.”
