(Day 771) Swords of Iron – “Three ways of determining“
Chaim starts by saying that there’s a lot of pressure lately for Israel to take certain actions (or not take certain actions) in Judea and Samaria. There is also a lot of friction there between Israeli communities and Palestinian Arab communities.
Chaim says that there’s a few different reasons people are living in a certain geographical area. THey might have been there for centuries, like in India. Or they might have been given the mandate to live there by the UN or some other authority, or they might have conquered that area and taken control of it. In all three of these cases, Israelis have the right to live in Judea and Samaria.
However, there is a lot of pressure right now for a Palestinian State to be allowed to come into existence, following some reforms in the Palestinian Authority and other changes which might or might not happen. Saudi Arabia and Indonesia are offering the possibility that they’d join the Abraham Accords in exchange for this. There would also have to be security guarantees and other things in order for Israel to agree, IF they would agree, which there’s no guarantee of anyone agreeing to anything at this point.
In the meantime, the IDF continues to demolish terror tunnels in the Gaza Strip, and there is an expectation that this will continue under the auspices of whatever multi-national force the US manages to assemble to go into Gaza.
At the same time, however, Iran is continuing their efforts to rearm Hezbollah and otherwise rebuild their “axis of resistance”. They even seized an oil tanker on the high seas in a blatantly illegal act of piracy.
Chaim says that under these circumstances, Israel, America and the rest of the free world can’t afford to have any cracks. The free world must stand together, work together and act together in order to confront the rising darkness.
Chaim says the one thing we absolutely must NOT do is go back to the way we were doing things before October 7th, turning a blind eye to the malign activities of our enemies. We must remain vigilant, confront problems, get out ahead of issues that threaten our way of life.
In this context, he concludes by quoting Psalms 126; When the Lord brought back the captivity of Zion, we were like those who dream. Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing. Then they said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.” The Lord has done great things for us, and we are glad. Bring back our captivity, O Lord, as the streams in the South. Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy. He who continually goes forth weeping, bearing seed for sowing, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.
