(Day 429) Swords of Iron – “Assad flees Syria-Isaiah 17?”

What a dynamic time to be alive. The Assad regime, known for its brutality, has been removed from power. This development marks the downfall of a leader responsible for mass atrocities. Reports from human rights organizations, such as the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, estimate that over 610,000 people were killed under his regime, with some sources suggesting the number exceeds a million. The lack of international sanctions against Assad, despite such horrific crimes, is striking. Instead, global focus has often shifted elsewhere, such as on establishing a Palestinian state, while conflicts and missile attacks against Israel continue.

As rebel forces in Syria announce the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad’s Iranian-backed regime, celebrations erupt across Damascus. Abu Muhammad al-Julani, a leader of the rebellion, has arrived in the city, further energizing the crowds. Amidst the jubilation, efforts are being made to neutralize threats, such as intercepting Russian weapons stockpiles that could pose dangers to Israel. On the Syrian border, Israeli troops are deploying to address potential spillover effects, particularly in vulnerable areas like the Golan Heights. Commando units have secured positions, and warnings have been issued to residents in Syrian villages near Quneitra.

The historical significance of this moment is profound. Standing on the Golan Heights, one is reminded of the heroic battles of 1967 and 1973, and now, the IDF is again engaged on a new front. Pro-Assad and Iranian militias have been captured as they flee into the desert, and the iconic statues representing the Assad regime are being toppled. Reports suggest that President Assad has fled Damascus to an unknown destination, with some speculation about whether his aircraft met with disaster.

Following the fall of Damascus, thousands chant for freedom, marking the end of over five decades of Assad family rule. The Assad regime, rooted in the Alawite minority and Ba’ath Party, had inflicted widespread poverty, repression, and torture on its people. This monumental shift raises questions about Syria’s future and whether it aligns with biblical prophecies, such as Isaiah 17, which speaks of Damascus becoming a heap of ruins.

The times are indeed momentous, filled with both uncertainty and hope. Passages like Isaiah 2:4 envision a future of peace, where nations no longer wage war and weapons are turned into tools for cultivation. Amidst the upheaval, there is faith that God’s kingdom is advancing, bringing justice and restoration. As Psalm 108 says, “Through God, we will do valiantly, and it is He who will tread down our enemies.”

In closing, the work of organizations like the Aliyah Return Center in northern Israel exemplifies the commitment to helping those in need. Led by dedicated individuals like Sergeant Major Kim Mpen, this charity provides essential support, including food, clothing, and emotional aid, to those struggling. (Day 779) Swords of Iron – “Things Are Heating Up”

Chaim starts by saying that he is usually a pretty optimistic person but even he is having a hard time believing that Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis in Yemen and Iran’s IRGC are just going to give up on their goal of destroying Israel because they failed so miserably over the last two years. Hamas in particular has used the breathing room they got over the last few weeks of “ceasefire” to rearm and regroup and are now back to probing the Yellow Line and otherwise seeing what they can get away with.

(Day 777) Swords of Iron – “Next Generation”

Chaim starts by saying that he’s home with his family for the weekend and he’ll be heading back to the war the next day. But he’s thinking about the information war, the battle for hearts and minds. He’s thinking about how Qatar has spent billions of dollars to try and influence the next generation, how Charile Kirk tried to push back against the anti-Israel narratives, and Chaim realizes that although he’s made videos every single day for 777 days, he really isn’t reaching the Gen Z and Gen Alpha generations very well. So he says in this video he’s going to try and speak to them in their own language as best he can.

(Day 776) Swords of Iron – “Tunnels, and the trail to triumph”

Chaim starts by saying that he’s in Jerusalem and he’s standing in front of a poster with the hostages’ faces on it. There are still remains of three hostages who were murdered in captivity which have not yet been returned to Israel for burial, but Chaim says he had almost lost hope that there would be as many hostages returned, both living and dead, as there have been.
