Day 458 Swords of Iron – “Closing In”

Chaim begins the video by saying that at the beginning of this war, he like everyone else thought it might last a few weeks at most, like all of Israel’s past wars. But now he has been in uniform as a mobilized member of the IDF reserves for 458 days and it’s not clear that it will end any time soon.

He says that he wants this to be over just like everyone else, but it takes time to do the job right and although Hamas is collapsing and more and more of them are surrendering, it’s not over yet.

In fact, other fronts are heating up, including in Judea and Samaria. Earlier in the day there was a terrorist shooting attack in the community of Kedumim, which resulted in the deaths of three Israelis and several others wounded.

Despite these setbacks, Chaim says the war against terrorism is making progress. He cites several recent successes that the IDF has had, but we all need to stay alert because according to some intelligence assessments, Iran would like to hit Israel at least once more before US President-elect Donald Trump is inaugurated.

On the other hand, the US might soon be hitting Iran’s nuclear facilities to prevent them from making a rush to nuclear weapons. They are rushing in that direction as they see their proxy forces being destroyed one by one, leaving them desperate for security. But Chaim says that there is reason to hope that Trump will push back hard against Iran’s regional agenda.

In the meantime, large numbers of Jewish people all over the world are in the midst of plans to make Aliyah, and the Aliyah Return Center is working hard to do our part in assisting them because we want to build a positive future here.

Chaim contrasts this with the actions of the Assad regime in Syria, where they based their economy on supporting Iran’s terrorist agenda and trafficking Captagon and other narcotics. Hezbollah was also part of this narco-trafficking network. At the same time, the Houthis in Yemen have little to offer the world except ballistic missile attacks and the illicit trade in oil and narcotics.

But Chaim believes that good will win over evil and in this context he quotes Psalms 25:2; O my God, I trust in You; Let me not be ashamed; Let not my enemies triumph over me.

(Day 734) Swords of Iron – The hostages are coming home!

Chaim starts by saying that he’s in Jerusalem (wearing civilian clothes) and he is so excited because the deal to release the remaining Israeli hostages held in Gaza has been signed and finalized. The hostages will be able to celebrate at least the last day or maybe two days of Succot, the Feast of Tabernacles.

(Day 731) Swords of Iron – “Where are the hostages?”

Chaim starts by talking about how he’s been mobilized in this war for two years, which is 10% of his adult life, and he’s seen and participated in many of the war’s most well-known campaigns. However, now is a special time because it is the Feast of Tabernacles and it’s time for the people of Israel to build temporary, flimsy structures to remind ourselves of the Exodus from Egypt when God watched over us and protected and provided for us despite the desperately insecure situation we were in.
