(Day 425) Swords of Iron – “Peace is won or negotiated?”
The ongoing ceasefire with the terrorist group Hezbollah feels hollow, echoing the sentiment of “peace, peace, but there is no peace.” Their activities suggest they are using this time to restock weapons, smuggle supplies from Syria, and recruit young people indoctrinated into their extremist ideology. While they claim to uphold the truce, violations continue, particularly in Mount Dov, where Hezbollah maintained an extensive network of bunkers and tunnels. A coordinated operation by the 110th Mountain Regional Brigade, along with combat engineers and the Golani Brigade, uncovered and dismantled these facilities, seizing weapons, equipment, and infrastructure.
Meanwhile, in Gaza, Hamas leaders are reportedly seeking refuge abroad in countries like Turkey, Iran, and Malaysia, with some already relocating. These nations’ willingness to host terrorist leaders underscores the troubling double standards at play. Qatar, despite hosting U.S. military bases, also provides a haven for these individuals. Yet, Hamas has expressed a willingness to negotiate, perhaps spurred by recent warnings from former President Trump, who declared that failing to release hostages before his potential return to office would result in severe consequences.
Delegations from Israel and Palestine recently convened in Cairo for truce talks, with reports of Hamas signaling openness to discussions. However, trust remains elusive. Hamas’ past claims, including blaming Israel for the deaths of six hostages allegedly killed in airstrikes, have been debunked. Investigations revealed the hostages were executed by Hamas in cold blood, further exposing their deceit.
There are still 97 hostages unaccounted for, and their plight weighs heavily on the minds of many. The urgency to locate and rescue them grows, with fervent prayers and efforts underway. As these challenging times unfold, 1 Samuel 17:47 serves as a source of strength: “It is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give you into our hands.” May this truth bring solace and resolve as the fight for peace and justice continues.
