(Day 430) Swords of Iron – “Future Plans”

The Assad regime in Syria is gone, and the Syrian Army is no longer a significant presence. This has also rendered past agreements, such as the buffer zone understanding that prevented invasions into Israel, ineffective. Since the fragile peace established after the 1973 war has dissolved, Israel has taken steps to secure its borders. The Yahalom unit was deployed to ensure the buffer zone is secure, including digging trenches and removing at least five nearby villages to create a stronger defensive line.

While some of the rebel groups in the area are Sunni and not Shiite like Iran, their trustworthiness remains questionable. Many are closely aligned with ISIS, which raises concerns. Ensuring the security of this zone has become a top priority. Israel has also deployed planes, helicopters, and tanks to eliminate key Iranian stockpiles and infrastructure intended to harm Israel. These precise strikes aim to delay any planned attacks and protect Israeli civilians.

In Gaza, Israel continues its relentless search for hostages. The Yahalom unit recently demolished a Hamas tunnel in Jabalia, stretching hundreds of meters, and destroyed booby traps and explosive devices along the way. When Hamas terrorists emerged from the tunnel, firing anti-tank projectiles and RPGs, Israeli forces responded with airstrikes and ground fire, neutralizing the threat. However, the hostages remain missing, and the search continues in an extensive network of underground tunnels.

The Golan Heights is another area of strategic importance, particularly for residents living in northern Israel. Controlling both the Israeli and Syrian sides of Mount Hermon is vital to neutralizing threats from higher ground. The buffer zone must remain strong to prevent Iranian forces, including the IRGC, from using it as a corridor to launch attacks against Israel.

This period of shifting alliances also highlights the need to strengthen ties with Western allies, uniting against shared adversaries like Iran, Russia, and North Korea. Israel’s alignment with the West is not only strategic but a reaffirmation of shared values and a commitment to peace.

In these uncertain times, we look to faith for strength. As Isaiah 41:10 says: *“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”*

Israel stands firm in its resolve to protect its people and secure its borders, prepared for any challenge that may arise. God bless from down south. God bless you all.

(Day 627) Swords of Iron – “Going Ballistic on Beersheva”

Chaim starts by lamenting the destruction in Ber Sheva that was caused by a last-minute Iranian ballistic missile strike just before the cease-fire went into effect. But, he says, he’s glad to live in a country that cares about its citizens and works hard to protect them, even if sometimes the bad guys land a blow. On that note, Chaim gives some details that are known about what happened in Ber Sheva, including the facts that the missile that struck the building was one of a wave that Iran fired and many more lives could have been lost if people had not been in their bomb shelters.

(Day 625) Swords of Iron – “Kaboom!”

Chaim starts by cheering on the announcement by US President Donald Trump that the US has joined the war against Iran’s nuclear program, defending the free world against one of its most dangerous enemies by destroying the Fordow, Isfahan and Natanz nuclear facilities.

(Day 619) Swords of Iron – “Remember We Didn’t Start This”

Chaim starts by acknowledging that these are difficult times in Israel, with incoming ballistic missiles and drones, cruise missiles and other weapons. Hundreds of people have been rendered homeless and at least 25 have been killed, while many more have been wounded. Israelis have had to run to their bomb shelters on several occasions over the past five days, and sometimes we have to stay there for extended periods, but it’s very important for us to stay safe.
