Day 467 Swords of Iron – “Miracles or Coincidences”

Chaim starts the video by pointing out that many ballistic missiles have been fired at Israel by the Houthis in Yemen, and although most of them have been shot down before even entering Israeli air space, the fragments from them can still fall into Israel and cause damage. One large fragment of a missile fell on a house near Jerusalem this week, but no one was hurt. Chaim says this could just be a coincidence, but it could also be a miracle of God.

Next Chaim mentions the deal which is almost sealed with Hamas, to release some of the hostages but also including the release of large numbers of Hamas terrorists from Israeli prisons. The plan is very divisive in Israel, but Chaim and his comrades are trying to keep their heads in the game, completing the mission of finding the hostages if possible and doing as much damage as possible to Hamas in the meantime before a ceasefire begins.

He also mentions a recent study by the Anti-Defamation League showing that nearly half of the adults in the world today have some anti-Sematic views. With that in mind, Chaim wonders aloud if we’re already in a Third World War. He says that 42 countries around the world are engaged to some degree in kinetic conflict and that raises the question of how many countries have to be engaged in such conflicts for it to be considered a World War.

However, Chaim thinks that it’s not quite time to declare a World War, but rather, we’re close to a time of peace and stability. He continues by declaring his belief that the incoming administration of US President-elect Donald Trump will ensure that, and he’s especially excited about Trump’s pick for Secretary of Defense, Peter Hegseth, who has said in his testimony before the US Senate that the way to achieve peace is for the free world, including Israel, to defeat their enemies.

Chaim also says that he’s glad Israel can help the US in various ways. His included, recently, the dispatch of a team from ZAKA, the Israeli disaster response team, to Los Angeles to help with recovery efforts from the large fires there.

In this context, he quotes Zechariah 9:13; For I have bent Judah, My bow, fitted the bow with Ephraim, and raised up your sons, O Zion, against your sons, O Greece, and made you like the sword of a mighty man.”

He also quotes Micah 4:13; “Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion; For I will make your horn iron, and I will make your hooves bronze; You shall beat in pieces many peoples; I will consecrate their gain to the Lord, and their substance to the Lord of the whole earth.”

Chaim says that these verses speak to the fact that people have to make a choice about where they stand and with whom they will make common cause.

The last 1/3 of the video shows Elon Musk speaking about the solutions to the problems between Israel and the Palestinians. He says that for starters, the Hamas and other terrorist groups need to be defeated and shut down. Then the education system in the Palestinian areas needs to be reformed so that children are no longer taught to hate from a young age. And last, there needs to be an economic rebuilding of Gaza and the other Palestinian areas, so that people have economic opportunities and a hope for a better life and a better future so they don’t want to make war on their neighbors any more.

(Day 734) Swords of Iron – The hostages are coming home!

Chaim starts by saying that he’s in Jerusalem (wearing civilian clothes) and he is so excited because the deal to release the remaining Israeli hostages held in Gaza has been signed and finalized. The hostages will be able to celebrate at least the last day or maybe two days of Succot, the Feast of Tabernacles.

(Day 731) Swords of Iron – “Where are the hostages?”

Chaim starts by talking about how he’s been mobilized in this war for two years, which is 10% of his adult life, and he’s seen and participated in many of the war’s most well-known campaigns. However, now is a special time because it is the Feast of Tabernacles and it’s time for the people of Israel to build temporary, flimsy structures to remind ourselves of the Exodus from Egypt when God watched over us and protected and provided for us despite the desperately insecure situation we were in.
