(Day 699) Swords of Iron – “Enemy Demands”

Chaim starts by saying that, amazingly enough, it’s been almost 700 days since this war began, since he first reported for duty and then started making the videos and 700 days that the hostages have been held in horrible captivity.

Chaim also says that, just incidentally, it’s also his birthday, and he’s glad to be able to make a contribution to Tikkun Olam, the Jewish philosophical idea that the world can be repaired. Chaim says that his efforts to contribute to the repair of this world include his work in the Yahalom combat engineering unit of the IDF, clearing explosives like, for instance, the cluster munitions that are fired in the warheads of ballistic missiles towards Israel by the Houthis.

On this note, he takes a moment to remind his viewers that anyone who finds such explosives should stay far away from them. But, he also says that he’s got some pieces of an Iranian missile that landed not far from his house in the Galilee, and on the subject of Iran, he notes that this country is on the verge of a meltdown and civil war. He adds that a country doesn’t change quickly from a dictatorship to a democracy, and the people will have to make that decision.

At the same time, Chaim says that the whole world is in a crisis. In fact, it seems like we are in what he calls “the propaganda stage of WWIII.” He also notes that there was an assassination attempt against an Israeli cabinet minister, with explosive drones flying over his house, which his guards happened to notice in time to evacuate him to a safe place.

In related news, Hezbollah continues to lose weapons, equipment and people to IDF airstrikes, but the big story everyone is talking about is the imminent move into Gaza City by the IDF.

Hamas is all of a sudden very ready to negotiate a final deal, while Israel notes that it has sent into Gaza roughly one ton of food for every man, woman and child who lives there.

With all of this in mind, Chaim says that Israel knows it can’t trust Hamas, and it is setting its own conditions for negotiations. This includes disarmament of Hamas, demilitarization of Gaza, Israeli security control there, and a move to remove the anti-Israel indoctrination of children in the Gaza Strip, so that the next generation doesn’t grow up wanting to repeat the massacre of October 7th, 2023.

Chaim says that if Hamas does not take this offer and surrender, Gaza City will end up looking like Rafah and Beit Hannun, utterly flattened. He also acknowledges that there are those, even in Israel, who say we shouldn’t take Gaza City, but rather we should negotiate with the terrorists of Hamas to find a way forward. But there are also those, and Chaim agrees with these other voices, who say that Hamas will never negotiate in good faith, so the thing to do is to stop giving them opportunities to do this and just get on with the business of taking control of Gaza City and crushing Hamas. Chaim says this process has already started, and he asks his viewers to continue praying for complete victory.

In this context, he concludes by saying that Hamas has a last chance to avoid annihilation now and in this context, he quotes Zecheriah 12:9; “It shall be in that day that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.”
