ARC Israel Updates

Chaim starts by saying that Israelis are used to short, intense military operations but not long, drawn out wars. He says he wonders if the war will last through the upcoming holiday of Hanukkah but he also says he knows for sure that for a long time there will have to be sporadic missions to hit individual terrorist tartgets.

He also expresses his shock and outrage at the rocket barrages that continue to pound Israeli cities, including Tel Aviv, the financial capital, and he says that Hamas and Islamic Jihad certainly have many more rockets to fire. He says he and his comrades are finding rockets all the time in the tunnels they keep discovering.

He also mentions the wider “clash of civilizations” which is exemplified by the large protests both against and for Israel which are taking place in major cities all over the world. He also mentions the visit to Israel of US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, and Chaim says “I hear what he’s saying” about the need for a two-state solution, but he doesn’t understand who Blinken expects Israel to negotiate such an arrangement with. He says Israel is fighting for its life, and although he and his comrades would rather be at home getting ready to celebrate Hanukkah with their families, they have to be in Gaza fighting to ensure those families survive and have a future.

He also mentions the ever-more-apparent complicity of the UN in the Hamas crimes against Israel, including his personal discovery of a tunnel entrance inside a hospital operated in cooperation with the World Health Organization and the UN.

He says that in order to defeat Hamas their terrorist infrastructure must be dismantled, including tunnels but also financial networks and smuggling networks. He says Israel must keep up the pressure on the Hamas to release hostages and also rescue hostages.

He says that this is the only way to ensure that the threat to Israel from the Gaza Strip is eliminated.

He also mentions the stress that Israelis are under because of the war, worrying about their loved ones who are in harms way and the many other problems the war is causing. This includes anger and shock about the way Hamas so thoroughly deceived Israel and lulled it into a false sense of security. But he says that now isn’t the time to beat ourselves up but rather it’s time to come together and unite for victory, looking to God for hope and inspiration. He reminds his viewers of Proverbs 10:24-25, “The fear of the wicked will come upon him, and the desire of the righteous will be granted. When the whirlwind passes by, the wicked is no more, but the righteous has an everlasting foundation.”

He also moves up a bit and quotes Proverbs 10:28-29; The hope of the righteous will be gladness, but the expectation of the wicked will perish. The way of the Lord is strength for the upright, but destruction will come to the workers of iniquity.

He concludes by saying he and his comrades are watchmen on the walls like those spoken of in Ezekial 33:7 So you, son of man: I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore you shall hear a word from My mouth and warn them for Me.

He asks his viewers to join in the job of being a watchman for the house of Israel by finding Jewish people and telling them that they aren’t alone. He concludes by saying that when there’s weeds in a garden, it’s not enough to tear off some leaves, but rather someone has to put the gloves on and uproot the weeds.

(Day 563) Swords of Iron – “Drive Terror Out”

Chaim starts by saying he remembers the day he got the call to come to his IDF reserve unit because the war was starting and he was needed. He talks about others he knows who did the same, even though many of them were very busy and had a lot going on, they all dropped what they were doing and ran to join their units. They all thought it would be a short war like so many others before it, but this war has lasted over a year and a half and there’s no end in sight.

(Day 562) Swords of Iron – “Fell in the line of duty”

Chaim starts by saying it’s always tragic when the IDF suffers casualties, and he honors Warrant Officer G’haleb Sliman Alnasasra, 35, of Rahat, who was killed in action over the weekend. Several other soldiers were wounded in the attack, which occurred in an area that was believed to have been cleared of hostile actors, but Hamas had a tunnel that had not been demolished yet and some Hamas guys popped up out of that tunnel and fired an RPG at an IDF vehicle and then later as a rescue vehicle was headed towards the scene Hamas detonated an IED and inflicted more casualties.

(Day 561) Swords of Iron – “Name a Hero of yours”

Chaim starts the video by asking his viewers to leave a comment talking about who their heroes are. He then tells the story of one of his personal heroes, Fredreich Bonhoofer, who was a pastor in Germany who publicly stood against the Nazi regime and was also involved in the plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler in July 1944. His great legacy is that although he was a pacifist, he said that to not take action in the face of evil, and to not speak out in the face of evil, was to support evil and to become evil.
