Swords of Iron Day 1069: Another Day on the Front Lines
It’s just another day at the office out here in the danger zone on the front lines. On Swords of Iron Day 1069, I don’t think people understand the magnitude of defending Israel from terrorists in Gaza, in Lebanon, and on every other front, including Judea and Samaria.
We have not restored security yet, and the Swords of Iron War is not over. Every day, soldiers and reservists leave their families to guard communities on several fronts at once. Many of them have served hundreds of days since October 7.
That is why foreign attempts to sanction Israel over Judea and Samaria are so wrong. It remains an active security front. In fact, security forces just caught a Hamas cell with a rocket in the Jordan Valley.
The Media Front and a Wake Up Call for Europe
And then there is the media. On Swords of Iron Day 1069, it remains another front full of propaganda, slogans, slander, and blood libels against Israel. People in Europe may not understand until terrorism reaches their own streets. Every false headline has real consequences. When the media repeats a lie about Israel, synagogues and Jewish schools abroad often pay the price.
But look at France, where authorities arrested three men over an alleged ISIS plot that discussed attacking the Jewish community. Europe needs to wake up before it is too late. Extremist jihadist ideology does not stop with Jews. It threatens anyone who stands in its way. France is not alone. From Manchester to Sydney, Jewish communities have already buried victims of jihadist terror.
Swords of Iron Day 1069: Iran Digs Deeper at Pickaxe Mountain
And Iran? Did the regime learn its lesson? No. Satellite images reportedly show a surge in construction deep underground at the Pickaxe Mountain facility near Natanz, with excavation pushing forward. The site sits beneath the Zagros Mountains, and experts believe it could survive even advanced bunker busting bombs.
According to reports, Israeli intelligence believes the Revolutionary Guards moved thousands of centrifuges there. Meanwhile, the United States is reportedly developing ways to reach deeply buried facilities like this one. This is exactly why Israel cannot relax. A regime that keeps digging deeper after every setback has not given up its nuclear dream.
Tankers, Threats, and Missiles Over Jordan
At the same time, American forces keep hitting Iranian oil tankers as the U.S. blockade continues, while Iran threatens shipping near Kuwait and Bahrain. Iran also fired ballistic missiles toward U.S. targets in Jordan, and Jordan intercepted them in the skies right next to Israel.
We can see those missiles from here. After October 7, that reality is not something we can simply ignore. For families here, interceptions overhead are not an abstract news story. They remind us that Iran’s war reaches our skies. That is daily life in Israel on Swords of Iron Day 1069.
Swords of Iron Day 1069: Why It Is Not an Illegal Occupation
Then they call us “illegal occupiers” and “colonialists” in Judea and Samaria. But do they know the history?
Long before 1948, the Jewish people lived in Judea and Samaria for thousands of years. In fact, the very word Jew comes from Judah, the tribe and kingdom that gave Judea its name. You cannot be a colonizer in the land that gave you your name. The League of Nations Mandate for Palestine itself recognized the historical connection of the Jewish people to this land.
Many legal scholars argue that when the British Mandate ended, Israel became the successor state, exercising authority in territory that the Mandate had administered. After that, Jordan occupied the West Bank and East Jerusalem, while Egypt occupied Gaza. Yet only a tiny handful of countries ever recognized Jordan’s annexation, and almost nobody called it colonialism.
In 1967, Israel took control of these areas in a defensive war. Later, the Oslo Accords divided Judea and Samaria into Areas A, B, and C, each with a different form of administration. Today the Palestinian Authority governs most Palestinians in Areas A and B. Israel has also offered to hand over large parts of these areas in past peace talks, and Palestinian leaders turned those offers down.
Why Is Israel Alone Singled Out?
Yet the world constantly singles out Israel alone. Where is the same outrage over Northern Cyprus, Western Sahara, or the many other disputed territories and occupations around the world? The United Nations Human Rights Council even keeps a permanent agenda item devoted only to Israel. No other country receives that treatment. Meanwhile, Hamas terror, Hezbollah rockets, and Iranian missiles receive a fraction of the attention.
People need to know the history, the archaeology, and the Bible before they mindlessly repeat slogans. This is a worrisome time, and Swords of Iron Day 1069 shows that the pressure on Israel is real.
Psalm 20:1 and Why We Keep Moving Forward
Psalm 20:1 reminds me, “The Lord hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee.” Trouble is real. But so is the God of Jacob, who has defended this people through every generation.
That verse carries me through Swords of Iron Day 1069. Israel is not an occupier in its own ancient homeland. We will not put our heads in the sand again. We will stand, defend our people, and keep moving forward.
