Swords of Iron Day 1055 is about a front most people never see. Propaganda, media, social media and cyberattacks are all part of modern warfare now. Even sharing — or not sharing — the truth matters.
Swords of Iron Day 1055: Cyberwarfare Is Real Warfare
Israel’s National Cyber Directorate has repeatedly warned about phishing campaigns run by Iran-based hacking groups, and about fake messages impersonating the Home Front Command designed to look official enough that a frightened person clicks without thinking.
The practical advice is unglamorous and it works. Be careful on hotel, airport and public Wi-Fi. If a page appears that you did not ask for, close it rather than following its instructions. Never enter a password on a screen that arrived uninvited, and never install something because a pop-up told you to. Attackers are not trying to break your encryption; they are trying to get you to hand them the key.
This is why I say the information front is a real front. A rocket needs a launcher. A lie needs nothing but a willing share button.
Swords of Iron Day 1055: How to Be Hard to Fool
People assume cyberwarfare is something that happens to governments. It mostly happens to individuals, and it works because of ordinary human reflexes: urgency, fear, curiosity, and the desire to be helpful. A message that says your account will be closed in one hour is engineered to stop you thinking.
A few habits make you a much harder target. Slow down when a message is urgent, because urgency is the oldest trick there is. Reach the organization through a number or app you already had, never through the link you were sent. Turn on two-factor authentication on your email first, since email is the master key to everything else. Assume any public Wi-Fi is being watched. And when something feels off, trust that instinct instead of arguing yourself out of it.
The same discipline applies to information. Before you share a claim that makes you angry, check who is reporting it and whether anyone else is. Disinformation spreads on emotion, not evidence, and the fastest way to help an adversary is to forward their work for free.
Removing Terror Infrastructure in Gaza and Lebanon
Israel is continuing to remove terrorist infrastructure. In Gaza, Hamas has been attempting to rebuild near the Yellow Line, close to hospitals and schools, while using civilian structures to store weapons. The IDF has struck weapons depots located inside mosques, which tells you exactly how much regard Hamas has for the places its own people pray.
In Lebanon, our forces continue operating in areas including Majdal Zoun, the Ali al-Taher heights, the Nabatieh district and Mansouri, to prevent Hezbollah from rebuilding its military infrastructure.
Unfortunately, the results from the pilot areas where the Lebanese Army was supposed to take responsibility have been disappointing. Hezbollah has continued building, and tunnels remain. I genuinely hope Lebanon changes course, because nobody here wants to repeat the same cycle of war again and again.
Swords of Iron Day 1055: Questions About Turkey
And now there are questions about Turkey. On the anniversary of the Battle of Manzikert, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned that those who think they can halt “the sacred march of Turkey and the Turkish nation” through provocations and traps are doomed to disappointment.
Manzikert, in 1071, opened Anatolia to Turkish rule. Invoking it is a deliberate choice of frame, and it is worth asking what exactly is meant by a “sacred march” in 2026. Everyone has an agenda. We have one too, and ours is not complicated: security, peace, and preventing another terror front from forming on our border.
Regional Partnerships and the Strait of Hormuz
There is also real movement toward stronger regional partnerships. The White House has sent a civil nuclear cooperation agreement with Saudi Arabia to Congress, with U.S. officials making clear that it will only advance if Riyadh joins the Abraham Accords and recognizes Israel.
At the same time, alternative oil routes are quietly reshaping the map. Saudi Arabia’s East-West Pipeline to Yanbu on the Red Sea and the UAE’s Habshan-Fujairah line both bypass the Strait of Hormuz entirely. Every barrel that travels those routes is a barrel Iran cannot hold hostage.
That is the strategic point. Iran wants to use the Strait as a weapon. The free world cannot allow a vital international waterway to become a tool for terror and coercion, and the most durable answer is not a threat but an alternative.
Swords of Iron Day 1055 and the Promise of Isaiah 64
Through all of this I keep returning to Isaiah.
…as when the melting fire burneth, the fire causeth the waters to boil, to make thy name known to thine adversaries, that the nations may tremble at thy presence! When thou didst terrible things which we looked not for, thou camest down, the mountains flowed down at thy presence. For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him. (Isaiah 64:2-4)
Notice what that passage does not promise. It does not say the waiting will be short or that we will see the shape of it in advance. It says the outcome is beyond anything we would have thought to ask for.
So we wait on God, remain vigilant, and keep doing our part. We will see what He has prepared.
