Swords of Iron Day 1074: Progress Is Being Made

There is an Apache helicopter running behind me while I film Swords of Iron Day 1074. It is loud, and I apologize for that, but I will take the noise every single time.

That sound is a promise being kept.

On Swords of Iron Day 1074 I can tell you that we have been actively bringing security back to the north, working alongside IDF soldiers who operate like one well oiled machine. After everything these communities have lived through, that matters more than I can put into words.

We Promised Security in the North

Defense Minister Israel Katz put it plainly: “We promised security to residents of the north, and we delivered.”

He is right, and the proof is underground. Or rather, it used to be underground.

That massive detonation at Ali Taher Ridge was phenomenal to witness. We walked through what was actually down there in Swords of Iron Day 1072. A command fortress built over two decades, gone in one blast that registered as an earthquake.

I hope it takes Hezbollah years to rebuild it. Better still, I hope they never rebuild it at all, and that Swords of Iron Day 1074 is remembered as part of the week that broke their northern plan.

Hezbollah Is Asking for Help and Nobody Is Answering

Here is the part that tells you where this is really heading.

Intercepted Hezbollah communications reportedly show fighters and commanders near the ridge feeling abandoned by their own leadership. They were asking Iran for reinforcements. They expected Tehran to step in if the ridge fell.

Tehran did not step in.

Iran is looking elsewhere right now, including at Yemen. There is still another significant Hezbollah stronghold around Nabatieh, so nobody here is calling this finished. But an organization whose fighters are begging for help that never arrives is in a very different position than it was three years ago.

They built for twenty years on the assumption that Tehran would always answer the phone. That assumption died under Ali Taher Ridge along with everything else.

Isolation is its own kind of defeat.

Swords of Iron Day 1074: The Warning at Bab al-Mandab

Now the part nobody should skip, because progress in one place is not progress everywhere.

Saudi backed Yemeni government forces did advance in western Taiz, repelling a Houthi offensive with air support striking Houthi positions at Mocha and Dhubab. That is real and it is welcome.

But look at the water.

• The Houthis landed troops on Greater Hanish and Lesser Hanish, the islands sitting north of the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
• With those islands they have consolidated their grip on a waterway that carries roughly a tenth of global trade.
• They launched dozens of ballistic missiles and drones at Saudi Arabia, claiming strikes on King Khalid airbase near Khamis Mushait.
• Saudi civil defense had to place Abha and Khamis Mushait under alert.

So this is not a story of the Iranian axis collapsing everywhere at once. In Lebanon it is being dismantled. At the strait it is expanding.

Both things are true on the same day, and anyone telling you only one of them is selling you something.

Syria Is the Next Question

Syria is the piece I keep turning over in my head.

What happens if Syria tips one direction or the other? What happens if Turkish forces try to open a corridor running through Syria toward Iran? That would redraw this map in ways that reach us directly, and quickly.

A corridor like that would not stay a Syrian problem for long. It would become a Galilee problem. We are watching it closely, and everyone else should be too.

Iran Is Running Out of Money

The regime funding all of this is in serious trouble at home.

The rial has crashed to a record low. Inflation has gutted ordinary households, and Iranians are describing a country coming apart around them. Reports point to shrinking funds and even to difficulty paying the people who hold the regime up.

Some analysts believe the IRGC badly misjudged how long President Trump would be willing to sustain this pressure. Trump keeps calling on the Iranian people to rise up and reclaim their country, and he has described the regime as getting weaker by the day.

A regime that cannot pay its soldiers is a regime with a clock running.

Swords of Iron Day 1074: Progress Is Not the Same as Finished

So yes, progress is being made. Real progress.

Hezbollah is isolated. Its fortress is rubble. Iran is broke and distracted. The north is safer than it has been in years.

And at the same time, the Houthis are sitting on one of the most important shipping lanes on earth and firing missiles into Saudi Arabia.

That is exactly why we keep working. Not because the job is nearly over, but because this is the moment when pressure decides the outcome.

Psalm 68 and Letting God Arise

Psalm 68 says, “Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him… But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: yea, let them exceedingly rejoice.”

Scattered. That is the word I keep coming back to on Swords of Iron Day 1074, standing here with that helicopter turning behind me.

Let God arise. Let the righteous rejoice. And let God be glorified through every bit of it.
