Day 235 Swords of Iron – “Vietcong tactics and Hamas tactics”

Chaim starts the video by pointing out the great conundrum of conventional armies battling irregular forces. A conventional army loses if it doesn’t win, but an irregular force can win as long as it doesn’t lose.

Chaim makes some comparisons between the war the IDF is fighting against Hamas in Gaza and the US war in Vietnam, where the Vietcong guerilla force used tunnels, IED’s, booby traps, hit-and-run tactics and ambushes against the better-armed and equipped US military. The Vietcong also used the civilian population as a support network and engaged in relentless psychological warfare against the US troops.

All of these tactics and strategies are similar to what Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorist groups are using in their war with the IDF.

But Chaim reminds his viewers that this has been going on for a very long time. He reminds them of the First and Second Intifada back in the 1980s and the 2000s. These two events flank the Oslo Accords in 1995 and the Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip in 2005. Like the American involvement in Vietnam, this conflict has been going on for decades and includes many high and low points.

He also draws a parallel to the protests against the Vietnam War that took place on US University campuses and the protests against the war against Hamas that are taking place on US university campuses. Also, there’s a parallel that can be seen between those who are in favor of the victory of Communism over Capitalism and those who are in favor of teh victory of Jihadism over democracy.

But Chaim declares to anyone who is listening that Hamas will NOT win this war, and he says this is because the God of Israel is protecting the nation of Israel.

He concludes by quoting Joshua 1:9; Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Then he counts the Omer for day 35.
